CHILE: Using a Pinochet law against the Mapuche

One relic of the Pinochet era - the antiterrorism law introduced in 1984 - continues to be used by the elected governments, but chiefly against Mapuche militants acting against logging firms and others encroaching on what they consider their ancestral land. The US-based Human Rights Watch has just issued a report on this relatively unknown feature of present-day Chilean legal practice.
