BOLIVIA: Parties start pondering survival strategies

Final elections results are not yet in, but the count so far has been showing the extent to which Bolivia's established political parties were battered on 5 December [WR-04-48]. Survival strategies are already being announced. The MNR has decided to renew its leadership and try to rebuild itself 'from the countryside'. The ADN leadership appears ready to follow former President Jorge Quiroga and build a new force around the new 'citizen associations'.
