VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA: Bogotá promises not to do it again

Helped by the intensive mediating efforts of Peruvian foreign minister Manuel Rodrí­guez Cuadros, the governments of Venezuela and Colombia have pulled back from the brink to which they were taken by the kidnapping in Caracas of Farc leader Rodrigo Granda [WR-05-04]. Venezuela did not get the apology it had demanded, just a promise that it would not happen again. Colombia did not get any response to its charges that Venezuela was harbouring other guerrilla leaders.
