VENEZUELA-COLOMBIA: Bogotá promises not to do it again
Helped by the intensive mediating efforts of Peruvian foreign minister Manuel Rodríguez Cuadros, the governments of Venezuela and Colombia have pulled back from the brink to which they were taken by the kidnapping in Caracas of Farc leader Rodrigo Granda [WR-05-04]. Venezuela did not get the apology it had demanded, just a promise that it would not happen again. Colombia did not get any response to its charges that Venezuela was harbouring other guerrilla leaders.
