NICARAGUA: Congress sidetracks reform laws

The finance minister, Mario Arana, appears to have jumped the gun by counting on IMF support. He said on 30 September that he was confident that the IMF would support Nicaragua. He said that he expected the IMF to send a letter of support soon because of the macro-economic progress the government had made.
