BOLIVIA: Morales argues that inflation is inevitable

President Evo Morales argued that the rise in inflation is an inevitable consequence of the economic recovery. He asserted that more people were demanding better quality goods and as industry could not supply the quantities needed, the goods would be rationed by price. In June the monthly inflation rate was almost twice the May rate and the 12 month rate is heading towards 7% a year. In 2006 the inflation rate was under 5%.
