ECUADOR: Diversifying exports

The country wants to diversify exports away from the US, which currently accounts for 46% of total exports. In May Brazil agreed to eliminate tariffs on 4,262 import categories, most importantly tuna and shrimps. The problem is that trade with Brazil is shrinking. In 2006 Brazil's share of Ecuador's imports fell from 9% to 6%.
