ENERGY SHALE GAS: A big project for Argentina
On 7 December Repsol-YPF announced the discovery of an important
shale gas field in the Patagonian province of Neuquén. The field will be
developed by Repsol-YPF in conjunction with a Brazilian mining company,
Companhia Vale do Rio Doce (Vale). The US$5bn project to develop the shale gas
will be biggest foreign direct investment (excluding takeovers) in
Argentina.
