DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Central bank acts

On 28 February the central bank raised interest rates by one percentage point to 6%. In its statement, the monetary policy committee said that it was responding to the January consumer price inflation (CPI) figure of 1.25% which brought the lagging 12 month CPI rate to 6.17%.
