ARGENTINA: Kirchner invokes international law

Argentina's President Néstor Kirchner has signed an international convention under which war crimes and crimes against humanity are imprescriptible (ie, cannot be overridden by court or government decisions). In so doing Kirchner is hoping to give added impetus to moves in the supreme court and in parliament to annul laws protecting those involved with the military government that ran Argentina between 1976 and 1983.
