Tomorrow will bear see Chile's largest national strike in 18 years, according to the umbrella trade union organisation CUT, which called the strike. It is timed to coincide with Congress' likely ratification of the free trade agreement with the US. The president, Ricardo Lagos, has threatened officials who participate in the strike with sanctions.
