CHILE: Top brass seek to improve relations with Peru

The armed forces of Chile and Peru are endeavouring to put behind them an historically fractious relationship in order to cultivate closer working ties. The latest effort to build confidence measures is a five-day meeting in Santiago attended by the top brass of both countries, which started yesterday. It is aimed at coordinating drug-trafficking and counter-terrorist measures, in addition to discussing joint initiatives to deal with natural disasters.
