MEXICO-US: Eco-waivers allow completion of California border wall

The path has been cleared for the completion of the 'Tijuana Wall', a high-tech border infrastructure system which combines with an existing fence to close 22.5 kilometres of border between California and Mexico, south of San Diego. Using powers granted to him in May by the Real ID Act, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff last week waived environmental laws so the work could proceed through coastal wetlands.
