PERU: Coca eradication exceeds year-end target

Peru eradicated 8,555 hectares of illegally grown coca crops in the year to 15 November, surpassing the target of 8,000 ha set at the beginning of the year, the Comisión Nacional Para el Desarrollo y Vida Sin Drogas (Devida) reported. Devida said that 5,340 ha had been eradicated within the programme of gradual reduction and a further 3,215 ha with the voluntary participation of coca growers.
