Paraguay's chamber of deputies yesterday approved impeachment proceedings against three members of the supreme court. Carlos Fernández Gadea, Luis Lezcano, and the court's president Bonifacio Rí­os Avalos will now face a senate hearing, where members of the lower house will act as prosecutors. The judges stand accused of some twenty charges, involving abuse of power, corruption, influence peddling, and nepotism.
