BRAZIL: Government pulls out of vote

The government flunked forcing a vote on the key pension reform in the senate yesterday. The government said that it was confident that it has the support, but it did not want to force the vote when one of its key allies, José Sarney, the president of the senate (and a former President of the country) from the Partido do Movimento Democrático Brasileiro was out of action. He is ill with an ear infection.
