NICARAGUA: Government seals key IMF debt-relief deal

Nicaragua will see its US$6.5bn foreign debt slashed by 80% under the IMF's Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) debt relief programme. President Enrique Bolaños said that he would sign the deal with the IMF, the World Bank, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on 21 January in Washington.
