DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Peso slumps despite army initiative

The peso has slipped to RD$44 to US$1 and fuel prices have hit an all-time high after the ministry of industry and trade was compelled to increase prices for the second time in two weeks. This time last year, the peso was trading at RD$17.5 to US$1, the central bank said.
