MEXICO: Calderón still ahead in PAN's primaries

Felipe Calderón has won the second batch of primaries held by the ruling Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), attracting 50% of the vote in the southern states that went to the polls on 2 October. Interior Minister Santiago Creel, widely considered President Vicente Fox's favourite, is not seen as capable of turning the tables on Calderón on 23 October, when primaries are held in the remaining 14 states in central Mexico.
