Colombia's military returned to the district of Miraflores in the southeastern department of Guaviare yesterday after a five-year absence. The area, located in the middle of the jungle, was retaken by 600 troops on 30 January from guerrillas belonging to the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc).
