The Colombian economy grew by an estimated 4.2% year-on-year in the first quarter of this year, the director of the national planning department (DNP), Santiago Montenegro, announced on 1 May. Official figures for GDP growth in the first quarter will be announced later this month by the national statistics department DANE.
