BRAZIL: Scandal escalates with 'Cuban funding' charges

The ruling Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) last week launched a new strategy to deal with the damaging corruption scandal that seems to grow rather than recede: to 'take down' the opposition parties it says have engaged in the same illegal campaign-funding practices. This has triggered a counterattack by the two biggest opposition parties, now apparently determined to target President Lula da Silva - and to make matters worse, this has coincided with allegations that Lula's campaign received funds from Cuba.
