ARGENTINA: Purge in the Buenos Aires police

The government of Buenos Aires sacked 201 members of the province's police force on 3 June, including several high-ranking figures. On announcing the dismissals, the province's security minister, León Arslanian, said that 30 of those fired had at the same time been arrested on charges of serious criminal offences, including robbery, kidnapping, prostitution of minors and extortion.
