BRAZIL: Economy to grow by 3.5% in 2004

Brazil's economy will grow by 3.5% this year according to the government economic research agency, the Instituto de Pesquisa Econômica Aplicada (Ipea). Ipea said that it was basing its estimate on the recent reactivation of the economy, which has registered growth in each of the last three quarters, including 2.7% growth in the first quarter of 2004 compared to the same period in 2003.
