CHILE: Bank bomb in protest at delays in legislation

A bomb exploded in the early hours of 10 June, causing serious damage to a bank in Santiago. What initially looked like a clumsy attempt at robbery turned out to be a terrorist attack, claimed by the hitherto unknown group, 'Julio Guerra, Operativo Sur', in an anonymous tip-off to Santiago's Radio Bí­oBí­o. The caller said the attack was a reprisal for the new delay in anti-terrorist legislation, which, once passed, should free their jailed associates.
