BRAZIL: New accusations in the Kroll scandal

Development: The vice-president of Telecom Italia (TIM), Angelo Jannone, has accused the banker Daniel Dantas of instructing the risk-consultancy firm Kroll to spy on senior members of the government and officials of the Rio de Janeiro Judiciary. In his testimony to the Federal Police on 27 July, Jannone said that Dantas, a senior representative of the Rio-based investment bank Opportunity, planned to destabilise Tim's position in the Brazilian markets. Opportunity and TIM, partners in the Brasil Telecom (BrT), are wrestling for control of the company.
