URUGUAY: A majority rejects idea of disbanding the armed forces

The Uruguayan military, left feeling somewhat bruised by the excavation of their barracks in search of bodies dating back to the dictatorship of 1973-85 and by what they consider unfair budgetary treatment, have finally been given cause to feel relieved, if not pleased. A poll has shown that a majority of Uruguayans oppose their disbanding.
