COLOMBIA: Uribe seeks accommodation on several fronts

In clear reelection mode, President Alvaro Uribe is being conciliatory all around. He has made a new offer of talks with the ELN guerrillas, which has been taken up. He has given instructions to seek the formation of an international commission to negotiate a prisoner exchange with the Farc. And he has reversed himself on the deadline for demobilising the paramilitary, allowing an extension of several weeks.
