The prediction that Ollanta Humala would be the one producing surprises in the current electoral runup [WR-05-44] is already being borne out by events. Two recent opinion polls show his support in Lima doubling since October - and another, countrywide survey shows his Partido Nacionalista Peruano (PNP) actually leading the field in eight departments.
