MEXICO: On the start line, a López Obrador-Calderón race

Although campaigning is now suspended until after Christmas, all candidates have been nominated and the alliances formed - the latest being the predictable one between the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) and the Partido Verde Ecologista Mexicano (PVEM). With the PRI's Roberto Madrazo slipping behind, the contest now appears to have narrowed to a López Obrador-Calderón race.
