Approaching job-creation target. This year about 1m new jobs will be created, according to Labour Minister Francisco Javier Salazar. His prediction is based on the report that 50,000 new jobs were created in November, taking the total since the beginning of the year to 750,000 - to which Salazar adds the 'recovery' of 100,000 jobs lost in January and the fact that December is the peak month for hirings. The 1m mark is politically significant, since that was the annual target set by President Vicente Fox during his campaign, never much more than half-achieved so far [WR-05-48].
