Development: On 5 February Patricio Acosta, the former social welfare minister, accused Óscar Ayerve, one of President Gutiérrez's most senior advisers, of organising an attempt on his life on 4 February. Also on that same day an unknown attacker hurled a small bomb into a provincial radio station belonging to a prominent opponent of the president. No one was injured.
