HONDURAS: Ex-president denied entry to US

Second-guessing the Honduran courts, the US government last week denied entry to former Honduran president Rafael Callejas (1990-94), announcing that his visa had been revoked, under a provision which allows the US to take such action against foreign officials or former officials who engage in acts of public corruption. Callejas has had seven charges of corruption dismissed by Honduran courts, though the public prosecution service has underway an appeal to the supreme court.
