COLOMBIA: Unemployment creeping up. Unemployment in Colombia increased to 12.9% in August, according to figures released by the national statistics institute, Dane. This is a 1.6-point increase on the same month in 2005. Underemployment was 37.7%, up from 32.5% in August 2005. However, unemployment in the biggest 13 cities in Colombia stood at 12.7% compared with 13.8% a year earlier.
