Tracking trends

BRAZIL: Exports struggle. Exports are no longer the main driving force of economic growth in Brazil, a role maintained since 1999. Between January and August exports increased 5.8% year-on-year, while imports rose by 15.9%. Some experts argue the economy would grow by as much as 4.5% this year (as opposed to the 3.2% average market forecast) if foreign trade were excluded.
