MEXICO: Government fails to fix tortilla prices

On 18 January the government unveiled a deal designed to fix tortilla prices at M$8.50 (US$0.80) a kilogramme. The deal does not look as though it is working. If it unravels, the popular good will towards the new president, Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, will curdle, especially if the law and order situation takes a turn for the worse.
