ECUADOR: Video scandal ensnares economy minister

One of President Rafael Correa's closest allies, Ricardo Patiño, the economy minister, is being investigated by the attorney general after a video came to light showing him discussing the advantages of scaring the markets with a former economy minister, Armando Rodas, and two securities brokers from the US firm Abadi, in a Quito hotel. The video, recorded in early February, was leaked to the press by Patiño's former adviser, Quinto Pazmiño.
