The Movimento dos Sem Terra (MST), Brazil's largest landless association, held its fifth national assembly in Brasília this week. MST leaders used the gathering to step up their criticism of the government and, significantly, employed the movement's "revolutionary" rhetoric. President Lula da Silva, a long-time supporter of land reform in Brazil, was not invited to speak at the assembly.
