Bolivia looks to raise oil prices

Development: On 4 January Bolivia's President Evo Morales stressed the need to boost the revenues of State and private oil companies operating in the country to ensure increased fuel production to meet domestic demand.

Significance: Morales has yet to explain how his government intends to do this. His remarks come after he was forced to repeal a year-end decree that would have scrapped state fuel subsidies and thereby provided the cash to provide these incentives to oil companies.
