CUBA: Cuba’s slow cooking food revolution

José Graziano da Silva, the new head of the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization, has warned that world food prices, which have soared to record highs in 2011, will remain under pressure in the coming decades. Cuba imports up to 80% of its food, at cost of US$1.5bn in 2009 (or 17% of the total value of exports), on last available figures.
