President-elect Ollanta Humala will have a truce lasting one month after he takes office on 28 July in which to annul definitively all of the mining concessions in the south-eastern region of Puno. He will also need to push through congress the ‘Ley de Consulta', which requires the state to consult indigenous communities about issues relating to their territories. This ultimatum was issued by the Aymara leader, Walter Aduviri, shortly after five people were killed in clashes with the police in northern Puno.
