MEXICO: Election in the Estado gets underway
The election to pick a new governor and congress for the Estado de
México, the most populous and wealthy state in the country, began on 16 May. The
election is on 3 July. There are three main candidates for the governorship. The
favourite is Eruviel Avila from the Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI).
He is the candidate of the PRI's likely presidential candidate in 2012, Enrique
Peña Nieto.
