BRAZIL: Weakened PSDB takes soft line on Palocci

The main opposition party Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB) is failing to capitalise on an opportunity to put pressure on President Dilma Rousseff by not taking a more aggressive line to investigate irregularities in the declaration of assets made by the minister of the presidency, Antônio Palocci. The fractured PSDB leadership seems happy to take a backseat role within the opposition, as it looks to recover from its latest electoral setback, which caused unrest within the party ranks.
