DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Fernández pushes controversial IMF tax reform


The government is facing a mounting fiscal deficit as a result of the crisis in the energy sector. In order to address this, the DR has turned to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which has provided emergency funds but, at the same time, imposed tough demands on the government to increase its tax take.
