HONDURAS: Zelaya and Honduras absolved

On 2 May the Honduran court of appeals voted 2-1 to annul criminal charges (for corruption) against the ousted former president Manuel Zelaya (2006-2009).  A week later (9 May), the public ministry and the prosecutor general, which levied the charges in the wake of the June 2009 coup d’état, decided not to appeal the decision, meaning that Zelaya’s slate has been cleared. Pending minor administrative details (such as lifting a border arrest warrant for Zelaya), he is free to return to the country.
