BOLIVIA: Repsol hits a major gas field

In October Repsol YPF, one of the main oil companies operating in the country, announced that a US$60m investment in further exploration of its Margarita 4sd well has paid major dividends. The gas flowed at 5.4m cubic metres a day, which makes the well significantly faster-flowing than the wells at the country’s major fields at San Alberto and Sábalo. The company, however, wants to maintain the pressure in the field and will keep production at 4m cubic metres a day when the well comes into production in April 2012.
