Public support for protesting students is on the wane as Chileans tire of a dispute which has now endured for six months. That much is clear from the latest survey by local pollster Adimark. Support for President Sebastián Piñera did not bounce back though and his ruling right-wing Coalición por el Cambio remains unpopular. What is really eye-catching, however, is the abysmal performance of the opposition Concertación, which received its lowest approval rating since polls began. The survey suggests that Piñera might eventually notch up a victory in his prolonged tussle with the students but it would be Pyrrhic. With the entire political establishment discredited, he will need to enact significant political reform to win back public support.End of preview - This article contains approximately 875 words.
