GUATEMALA: Pérez Molina rewards allies with key posts

 President-elect Otto Pérez Molina has named his entire cabinet, with one exception, comfortably in advance of his taking power on 14 January. Key ministerial positions went to both small parties which backed him in the second round of elections. This showed his readiness to reward allies, at least in the interest of obtaining more support in congress, where legislative initiatives can often become mired in Guatemala, to the frustration of previous heads of state.
