MEXICO: Hopes for a US economic recovery

In the run-up to the long Thanksgiving weekend, which began for most people in the US on 23 November, the political and economic discussion in Washington DC had revolved around the implications of the failure of Congress to agree a compromise to forestall budget cuts of US$1.3 trillion. The noise this “failure” generated obscured two encouraging economic statistics from the US which suggest that the US economy may finally be starting to pick up.
