Embraer cosies up to the US & finds its niche

Brazil’s aerospace giant, Embraer, is moving to prioritise the development of its E-170 and E-190 short and medium-haul ‘regional jets’. Several recent strategic announcements by Embraer, the fourth largest aeroplane manufacturer in the world, suggest that it is targeting increased cooperation with its industry partners in the US. Importantly, this appears to be in line with the official US and Brazilian government plans to deepen bilateral economic ties.
