Development: Marco Aurelio García, Brazil’s presidential advisor on foreign affairs, told foreign journalists on 14 December that Brazil has decided to give its full backing to the new regional bank, Banco del Sur (Bank of the South), in order to reduce the region’s external dependency, shield it from the global economic crisis and boost integrated local production lines.
